What would you do, and how far would you go, in order to achieve a better life? Writer/director Omar Hilal’s new Egyptian comedy tackles this very question.

Voy Voy Voy! tells the true story of a down and out security guard living with his mother, who subverts his own morality for a ticket to a brighter tomorrow. After discovering the arduous, life threatening hurdles required to migrate to the west, Hassan decides on a different route: joining the blind football team to play the European World Cup. But there’s only one minor hiccup…he’s not blind, and if he gets found out, well, safe to say he won’t get a slap on the wrist.
Egyptian superstar, Mohamad Farrag, leads a dynamic cast, which has contributed to the film’s thunderous impact at the Egyptian box office after its premiere in Cairo just a few weeks ago.
“We’re overjoyed and honoured at the news of Voy! Voy! Voy! representing Egypt in the Academy Awards; an honour that we at Film Clinic had in the past but feels as ecstatic with each of our films,” said producer Mohamed Hefzy, founder of Egyptian production house, Film Clinic. He adds, “I’m happy that Dubai is our first Arab city outside of Cairo, especially given that two of the three production companies of this film are UAE companies. We’re keen to witness how the UAE audiences receive Voy! Voy! Voy! especially after the acclaim it is getting since it premiered in Cairo just a week ago.”

Unlike the current state of Hollywood, which continues to regurgitate unrequested Disney remakes and super hero movies, Arabic films are tapping into its own well of creativity, one that actually appears to include some original ideas.
