Rita Ora has successfully given everyone a ‘New Look’ into the way she shoots her music videos in Dubai. The 28-year old singer has teased a Dubai video drop for the last few weeks, and now it’s here. The new music video for her song ‘New Look’ from her 2018 ‘Phoenix’ album is finally out.
Ora has been teasing the video for a while before the release, with a few strategic Instagram videos also getting people amped up about a Dubai video, the lights of the Meydan Bridge are unmistakable after all. Well played Ora.
Jammed packed into a short 2.43 minute video, viewers can clock Al Seef Dubai Creek, Bastakiya, Meydan Bridge and Sheikh Zayed Road’s lit up evening skyline.
On the surface, this sounds pretty usual, showing off the glamourous nature of Dubai, something countless people have done. However, Ora and her team have made an effort to show various sides of Dubai, it’s both the tranquil, traditional Creek and Bastakiya area and it is also the hyper modern Meydan Bridge.
Normally you just get one or the other, Ora however has managed to pull of making both sides look awesome. Of course, a major highlight is seeing Ora race down the usually super-VIP Meydan Bridge, seeing her shoot around in a Dodge Challenger harks back to her cameo in Fast and Furious 6 if you ask us.
People are saying in fact the whole video is inspired by Fast and Furious, with the singer playing a mechanic by day and an illegal street car racer by night.
If you’re wondering who the handsome man Ora is racing around modern Dubai with , it’s Nassim Lyles a French-Algerian actor. You can find out more about him here.
The video is also being hailed for its portrayal of women in the emirates, the video has shots of women working on car repairs, thus breaking stereotypes, not only this but it also has the women in hijabs, respecting the culture of the UAE.
We’re not certain when Ora snuck into Meydan Bridge to film the video, though it may have coincided with her performance in Dubai Media City Amphitheatre back in March.
