The Mercedes Formula One driver did flips and tricks in a solo jump over the Dubai desert

Reigning Formula 1 champ Lewis Hamilton has done another death-defying stunt, doing a solo jump from a SkyDive Dubai plane over the Dubai Desert.

Hamilton, 36, posted the clip to his Instagram of him doing the unassisted skydive, which quickly went viral.

In the clip, Hamilton does a number of tricks, doing flips and others with a cameraman and assistant falls in style besides him. The Mercedes driver also does a salute to the camera right before he finally releases the parachute.

“”I’ve been learning to sky dive over the past couple years. It’s one of my favourite things to do in my spare time,” Hamilton says in the Instagram caption.

This me trying for the first time flying on my back of which I was useless at lol. After this I went to spend time in the wind tunnel to practise. I’ll post that next to show you my progression,” says Hamilton.

This is the first time that Hamilton has posted a skydiving video from Dubai. The last clip he posted was in 2019 in Qatar.

“This is my fav thing to do currently. The reason I skydive is I love that there are really no limits in free fall. It’s incredible to just let your mind free, remove all doubt and any insecurities you may be feeling in life and jump,” he posted in 2019.

“I think in life many of us don’t take that leap because of fear, something of which holds us back from greatness,” he added. “Don’t let fear dictate your life. You can do anything you put your mind to, I truly believe that.”

Romain Grosjean commented, “pretty darn good!” on his Instagram, with rapper A$AP Ferg commenting “fire.”

The stunt may be a way for Hamilton to refocus himself on the track, as he fell to seventh last week and second overall for the 2021 season for the first time all season.

Max Verstappen from Red Bull is currently ranked number one in the world.
